Tubing and Components

Tubing Selection

Carbon

SAE J524 Seamless tubing is perfectly suitable for bending and flaring. J524 is a cold drawn and annealed carbon steel tubing intended for use in hydraulic pressure lines.

SAE J525 Welded Tubing is best suited for pressure lines in applications requiring high-quality tubing for bending, flaring, forming, and brazing. This tubing is made from flat-rolled steel shaped into a tubular form where the edges are joined and fused together by electric-resistance welding.  After forming and welding, the tubing is then normalized and subjected to a cold-drawing operation. Following cold working, the tubing is then normalized via an atmospherically controlled method to produce a finished product meeting the requirements of SAE J525.

  • Sizes: 1/8" - 2" OD
  • Wall Thickness: .035" - .120"
  • Finishes: Trivalent Zinc, Unplated, Chromium 6 (CR6)

Stainless

  • Sizes: 1/8" - 1-1/2" OD
  • Wall Thickness: .035" - .120"
  • Grades: 304 & 316 Stainless

Due to its excellent general corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio and remarkable ductility, stainless steel has become the predominant material choice for hydraulic and instrumentation tubing. The two grades of stainless steel most common are dual certified 304/L and 316/L.

DOM

  • Sizes: 1/8" - 3" OD
  • Wall Thickness: .028" - .625"
  • Finishes: Unplated

DOM (Drawn over Mandrel) Round Mechanical Tubing is a cold drawn welded tube best suited for mechanical and structural applications. In comparison to other tubing, DOM round steel tubing is produced to more exact OD and ID tolerances, and has the highest weld strength possible.

METRIC

  • 6mm - 50mm
  • Wall Thickness: .5 mm - 5 mm
  • Finishes: Trivalent Zinc
